Dear Formula 1 fan!

Unfortunately, we have to inform you that the Hungarian government decided at the weekend of May 3rd, that as part of the new COVID-19 measures no events with more than 500 spectators are allowed to take place until at least August 15, 2020. The promoter of the Formula 1 Aramco Grand Prix of Hungary 2020 - the Hungaroring Sport Zrt. - confirms in their official announcement that if the Grand Prix takes place, it will, unfortunately, take place this year without spectators in the stands.

We ask for your understanding that we currently have no further information about the processing of the ticket switch to 2021 or the processing of a refund. Here we are dependent on the decisions made and further details on the part of the promoter. Besides also all technical and legal framework conditions must also be created. We hope that we will have more details soon and that a uniform solution based on the legal framework will become known, and we will, of course, inform you immediately about the further steps.

In the meantime, thank you for your understanding and patience!

Hungaroring Update as of May 1st:

Following the decision by the Hungarian government barring events with over 500 people from taking place in the country until 15th August has clearly had a direct impact on the Formula 1 Aramco Magyar Nagydíj 2020.

The Hungaroring team has been regularly liaising with Formula 1 – the series’ international rights holder – to explore all possible ways to stage the 35th Formula 1 Magyar Nagydíj in front of fans. However, in light of this decision this is unfortunately no longer possible.

The health and well-being of all our fantastic Formula 1 fans, staff and championship participants has been and remains our primary concern throughout this period and with that in mind, we have regrettably been left with no choice but to reach this conclusion.

We have continuously emphasised our willingness to work towards a safe solution that would allow us to welcome the entire Formula 1 family to the Hungaroring this August but it is now evident that any F1 race in Hungary can now only be held behind closed doors.

While this is not an ideal scenario, we do believe that staging the event behind closed doors – which our fans can still watch on television – is preferable to not having a race at all. Furthermore, it will also ensure that a global audience of millions can still watch the race taking place in Hungary via F1’s vast international broadcast coverage. As such, we are continuing our working with Formula 1 to try and find a way to make this possible.

At the Hungaroring, motorsport fans always come first. Without you, the circuit – the home of domestic motorsport in Hungary – would not be the same. Indeed, we are not forgetting those amazing fans who have already bought their tickets for this year’s Hungarian Grand Prix and to whom we can offer two options: transfer your pre-purchased ticket for this year’s race weekend to the 2021 edition or request a refund. In the case of a refund, we kindly ask for your patience as we deal with this unprecedented situation. We will provide a further update for our ticket purchasers as soon as possible.
